A DAY IN THE LIFE OF SCHOOL ONE STUDENTS

You have 45 minutes to savor your lunch and socialize or just take a walk every day. You might even use some of this time to get homework done early.

You have a ten-minute break every morning and afternoon to catch your breath or catch up with your friends.

Just get up without an announcement and head to the bathroom or to get a drink. Just don’t abuse the privilege.

You may eat or drink in class as long as it doesn’t disrupt your academics unless you’re in a lab or near a computer.

Your advisor and our social worker are available to listen and help you figure it out.

School is done at 3 every day. The building is open until 4:30, and we provide a variety of fun activities from 3 until 4:30 (music, theater, ceramics, yoga, Dungeons & Dragons – and they’re all optional)

We do have homework, but we also provide an hour and a half with a teacher from 3-4:30 every Monday through Thursday for students who want to complete homework before going home. For most students, this is more than enough time to complete their homework if they attend fairly regularly.

There’s a teacher available to help you from at least 8 until 8:50 every morning and 3-4:30 Monday through Thursdays. Teachers are usually available during lunch as well. If you’re willing to get help, it’s readily available every day.

While we don’t have locker rooms, uniforms, parallel bars or ropes to climb, we do have enjoyable and largely non-competitive P.E. options with one or two that are more rigorous for those who enjoy that. P.E. options include walking, Tai Chi, soccer, tennis, and Pound! Depending and it changes every season. Our goal is for P.E. to be relaxed and fun for everyone.
