Online 8-Week Mindful Poetry Writing Intensive  

Launching in March, this multi-week workshop invites teens to explore poetry that expresses their relationships to ambition, change, belonging, and more — all while developing stronger creative writing skills. Each session begins with an engaging conversation about the language of poetry. From there, students will dive into poems by writers from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, illnesses, and historical contexts across the globe.

Advanced Online Poetry Circle

Join a community of skilled teen poets who meet online to read each other’s work, offer supportive feedback, and grow as writers. This group is ideal for teens looking to push their writing further in a collaborative environment.

On Saturdays in February, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., School One and Write Rhode Island invite students in grades 6-12 to spend the morning learning something new. Stay warm and explore hands-on classes in fairytales, fiction, poetry, comics, D&D, sewing, Magic: The Gathering and more.

Small class sizes mean personalized attention, helping students build skills, confidence, and a love for creativity. Our community classes have a suggested donation of $10 to help cover costs, though participation is always welcome regardless of ability to contribute.

Friendship Bracelet Making

Bring things back to the early 2000's with a friendship bracelet making course. Learn popular stitches with embroidery thread and learn how to read the patterns so you can tackle even the most complicated of bracelets.

Stitch Diary
Rebecca Siemering

Do you want to become more comfortable with sewing and embroidery?
Take this three-week course to learn basic sewing skills, a variety of stitches and mark-making techniques in thread. You will complete a stitch diary to document your learning. Each practice page will be bound into a soft, handmade book that you can use for reference or to practice before starting future sewing projects. On the final day of the course, we will use the skills we’ve learned to embellish a piece of clothing or other cloth item, such as a bag.

Vampires in Space (A D&D Workshop)

Description: Step aboard Barovia Station 5000 in this sci-fi retelling of the Curse of Strahd, a darkly comic Dungeons & Dragons one-shot where villains constantly stress that 'this isn’t its final form,' and every laugh brings the vampire in orbit a little closer. This session doubles as a mini writing workshop, filled with generative prompts that take both the writer and the player deeper into the heart of the nebula. No experience necessary. All are welcome.

Cosmic Horror

Description: If this is the void Nietzsche warned us about, then we don’t see what the big deal is. Why? In this workshop, students will merely dive into stories of the uncanny, the unknowable, and the cosmically weird. Drawing inspiration from contemporary as well as classic authors, we’ll write strange tales and terrifying worlds that defy logic and linger long after the last page. No experience necessary. All are welcome.

Designing New Worlds: Intro to Worldbuilding

In this three-week workshop, you'll work on creating a new world and the characters that inhabit it! Learn how to craft a rich and interesting setting for stories through drawing, writing, map-making, character design and more. You'll tell your own creation myth, record the histories of culture and conflict, dream up landscapes, and invent peoples and creatures.
