LITERARY CENTER

The School One LitCenter is a dynamic community writing center serving adult writers and young authors, from beginners to professionals. We bring writing classes, publication opportunities, and special events to R.I. students all year long. With our flagship creative writing program, Write Rhode Island, we partner with public and private schools, the Rhode Island homeschool network, and public libraries.

Through our partnerships and collaborations, School One's LitCenter has created a vibrant and dynamic writing community in Rhode Island, where we have fostered a supportive and empowering environment for writers of all levels to thrive.

ADULT
WRITERS

Adult writers can enroll in evening classes ranging from screenwriting, to memoir, science fiction to poetry, or participate in a book club or a writing critique group.

Young writers (grades 7-12) from across the state participate in our Write Rhode Island programs, including our flagship creative writing contest, after-school classes, and our drop-in LitLab.

The Providence meeting place of writers Ann Hood, Hester Kaplan and Taylor Polites. Goat Hill’s writing seminars, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring offer learning opportunities to writers at all experience levels.

We Are All Readers

We Are ALL Readers works to create a more empathetic world by increasing access to diverse children’s books and creators, celebrating and supporting the work of historically marginalized authors and illustrators, and encouraging young people to share their own stories.
