Madeline Menkes is a painter and sculptor originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She recently graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and her studies have since landed her in Providence where she resides as a working artist. Madeline finds joy in the material aspects of creating through her multidisciplinary practice, combining traditional methods of oil paint with sculptural mediums such as glass, metal, and organic material. Her work revolves around themes of ecology, community, memory, and the home. When not at School One or in her studio, Madeline works at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston teaching classes in both Representational and Oil painting. She can also be found working on murals in Providence and surrounding areas. Her classes at School One combine a myriad of technical and conceptual skill building, with the hope that the lessons allow students to pursue their personal practices to the best of their ability.
